Karen is a licensed therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults suffering from a variety of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, Complicated Trauma and Serious Mental Illness.
Karen offers an Eclectic Style of therapy, using multiple techniques from different therapy approaches in order to help clients with their needs. Some of the therapy approaches Karen specializes in include Sandtray Therapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with Mindfulness (DBT) and Strength-Based/Solution Focused Therapy.
Karen believes that positive change can occur when individuals are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. She provides a compassionate, safe and supportive environment to help individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive. Her goal is to empower other’s to handle life’s obstacles that are inhibiting them from growth and success.
Karen received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and her Master’s of Social Work from University of Arkansas in Little Rock. She has experience working with the elderly and hospice patients, adults with serious mental illnesses at Little Rock Community Mental Health Center, school based mental health therapy for children and outpatient mental health therapy for adults and children.
