Dr. Shy is a licensed psychiatrist specializing in treating children and adolescents who are dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), disruptive behaviors and other conditions. She is also experienced in treating adults experiencing marital issues, depression, anxiety and other mood disorders.
Dr. Shy’s treatment philosophy focuses on how to assist her patients work through past hardships, learn to better manage their emotions, and see their self-worth and potential in life.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at UAMS in 2002, completed her residency for general psychiatry in 2005, and completed her fellowship training in child/adolescent psychiatry in 2007.
She is a member of the Arkansas Medical Society.
About her work Dr. Shy says, “I am humbled daily by my patients. They put their trust in me and take the risk of being vulnerable in hopes of becoming healthier. This takes both strength and courage and it is my honor to be a part of their journey to a more hopeful future. For me, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
