Dr. Shy specializes in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at UAMS in 2002, completed her residency for general psychiatry in 2005, and completed her fellowship training in child/adolescent psychiatry in 2007.
Dr. Shy has been in this profession since 2007 transitioning from part-time staff to full-time staff beginning in July of 2016. She is a member of the Arkansas Medical Society. In describing her work, Dr. Shy stated, “I am humbled daily by my patients. They put their trust in me and take the risk of being vulnerable in hopes of becoming healthier. That takes both strength and courage and it is my honor to be a part of their journey. Working at BHSA has been especially rewarding. Having the privilege to work alongside others with one unified goal: helping adolescents and adults work through past hardships, learn to better manage their emotions, and see their self-worth and potential in life. For me, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
